My next wood block carving printed - very happy with it. This was an image…
Final stage
Only three paintings to do!
Since mid April I have completed 40 paintings in watercolours! Some quite large and detailed and some just small vignettes. But each one need careful planning to get the colours right and details looking realistic. Once painted I need to go back over the image to pick out the characters, the ‘props’ and the backdrop.
A great tool I have discovered this paint-athon was the use of a lead pencil to add shading and rubbing it smooth with a paper stump. I was using ultramarine blue as my shading colour to give depth to objects and create a good recession in the landscapes but it tended to lift the colour underneath and turn yellow surfaces green!
