Transferring the drawing to good watercolour paper

It’s a three stage process to transfer the much rubbed-out, much scribbled drawing onto the final suitable paper.

First the transparent tracing paper is taped onto the drawing and the image is drawn with a very heavy pencil. The the back of the tracing paper is covered in a charcoal pencil and the tracing paper is fixed onto the good paper and the original lines are re-drawn.

The artist is left with a light impression and guide to the image to be painted.
